NOTICE OF RACE

RULES. The regatta shall be governed by the ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing for 2005-2008 (RRS), the prescriptions of the United States Sailing Association, the rules of each class concerned (except as altered by the Sailing Instructions), and the Notice of Race. The rules for all classes are altered so that membership in a class organization is not required.


CLASSES. Optimist (red/green fleets), Sunfish, Laser, Laser Radial, Club 420. All classes are “bring your own boat.” A minimum of three boats is required to form a class.


ELIGIBILITY. Open to all persons who do not turn 19 years of age during this calendar year. Optimists are sailed in two fleets: Green Fleet – for novice sailors; and Red Fleet – for experienced sailors. Maximum Skipper age in Optimist fleets is 15. CSSA Membership is required, but membership in a class organization is not.


REGISTRATION. Pre-Registration is encouraged and may be done by sending a registration form to:

Registration at the regatta will be conducted Saturday, June 28th, between 8:30 and 10:30am. Execution of a Release of Liability, Health Care Release shall be required.


Sailing Instructions will be provided at the registration and at the Skipper’s Meeting. If published in time, they may also be posted on the CSSA website.


ENTRY FEE. Pre-registration Fee is $15 if received by June 20th. After this date, the fee is $25. Fees include all meals for participants. Dinner will be provided. Meal tickets are available for non-competitors at $10 each.


SKIPPER’S MEETING. The Skipper’s meeting will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, Weatherby Lake “C” point.


RACES. Subject to the decisions of the Race Committee, five races or more are scheduled. There will be a throw out race if 5 races are completed for scoring purposes. No race will be start after 5pm.

10:55am Skipper’s & Coach Meeting
(i.e. Opening Ceremonies)

11:25am Warning Signal

Between Races Lunch served as determined by the PRO

1 hour after last race Awards (i.e. Closing Ceremonies) followed by Casual Dinner & lake activities

LIFE JACKETS/PFD’S. All competitors shall be required to wear PFD’s at all times while on the water. PFD’s shall be worn outside all clothing.


TROPHY PRESENTATION. All contestants will get participation awards. All Classes, except for Opti Green, will be awarded trophies as follows: 3-14 boats: 3 trophies; 15 boats: 4 trophies; 19 boats: 5 trophies, etc. The Opti Green Class has no trophies, but all will receive participation awards.


POST REGATTA STRESS SYNDROME. To aid those not heading home, or too stressed to drive, there will be a casual dinner, lake noodle floating, hot tub etc. activities at the Pierce home next to the regatta site. More commonly known as the site of the World Record Noodle float of 2007.

GUEST HOUSING & HOTELS: Weatherby families WANT to host your family & racers! We’ll provide a home with a dock for your boat located next to the regatta site. Please contact Lyn Pierce at (816) 741-6023 or piercelake@aol.com to set up your host family or get a hotel recommendation. Weatherby Lake is located 8 miles S of KC International Airport.


ZEBRA MUSSELS PRECAUTION. Please remove all water from your boat and motors prior to leaving for Weatherby (especially if your lake has zebra mussels). A zebra mussel inspector with a bleach water mixture will also assist you when you arrive.


SPECTATOR VIEWING. The regatta site (Weatherby Lake “C” Point) is located virtually in the center of the course for extremely easy viewing. Homes line the shores. There will also be various boats for guest viewing. NOTE: Coach boats only are allowed to have motors larger than the lake limit of 9.9hp during this one-day event.
