RACE COMMITTEE INSTRUCTIONS
 
SUPPLIES NEEDED can be found in the sailing locker at MYC
Boat anchor, Flags,Shot Gun and shells,Megaphone,Briefcase, Couse board,Stopwatch,Flag holder (ie:friends), Extra Buoys
 
Check Buoys and reposition if necessary.
SET ANCHOR and fly blue RC Flag.
RECORD ALL BOATS on top half of sailing records, found in RC briefcase.
FLY THE COURSE FLAG or LINE FLAG which becomes the boat-end of the start line.
NOTICE TO JUDGE: all races unless otherwise stated in race instructions will have RULE 30.1 in effect
("Round-an-end Rule or no "dip-starts")
 
PREPARING FOR THE START
   Raise "Come within Hail" Flag, 3 short beeps from air-horn
  5 minute warning, Class flag is raised (C-Scow or MC-Scow)          
  4 minute Preparatory Signal (blue prep flag up), 1 HORN   
  One minute warning, prep flag down, 1 LONG HORN 
                         
 START class flag down, prepare for next fleet (MC-Scow)
 
ON THE COURSE SIDE EARLY  individual recall X-Flag
            (if boat(s) are on the course side of the starting line, at any time after 1 minute horn,  
            the signal  flag should be displayed and the boat(s) should be hailed after the start.
            general recall  2 guns (if the committee is unable to identify all boats over the line the                                                 
            signal flag should be displayed and 2 guns sounded.         
RACE POSTPONEMENT  in the event a race must be postponed fly the AP Flag and fire 2 guns
RACE ABANDONED  in the event a race must be cancelled, fly the N flag and fire 3 guns
 
FINISHING A RACE; 1 GUN for each fleets first place finisher. And 1 horn for all other boats.  Record the finishes on the bottom half, called "All Fleet Race Record", along with recording the finishes on the top half to duplicate the records.  The top half of the sheet should be placed in the RC briefcase, and the bottom half placed on the respective fleet's bulletin board.
